What’s Legal About Cancer? Insurance, Employment, Finances: CPAN Advocacy Chat
On December 14, join COA’s Rose Gerber, MS, Director of Patient Advocacy & Education, and Triage Cancer’s Monica Fawzy Bryant, Esq, Chief Operating Officer, to learn about the important insurance, employment, and financial issues impacting cancer patients.

When a patient receives a cancer diagnosis, questions start to arise about insurance coverage, the future of employment, and how to pay for treatment. What does my insurance cover versus what is out of pocket? Will I lose my job because I have cancer? Can I afford treatment? These are all scary questions that can intimidate patients if they don’t know the extent of their rights, and why organizations like Triage Cancer were created.

Started by two cancer rights attorneys, Triage Cancer has spent over a decade educating patients about their rights as employees undergoing cancer treatment. Rose and Monica will discuss common scenarios that patients encounter, solutions, and Triage’s work supporting not just patients, but also caregivers, advocates, and health care professionals as they navigate legal and practical issues that arise after a diagnosis.

This event will be part of our virtual CPAN Advocacy Chats series - short, monthly educational webinars on key cancer issues and the policies that impact them. Each month will feature a new topic and special guests joining us. Patients, survivors, caregivers, and other cancer care advocates are all invited to join us for these free, interactive, virtual events!
